PTSA Board Meeting
November 5, 2007

Call to order: Tina Sellers called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.

Secretary: Jennifer reminded everyone minutes were available on table.
Motion was made to accept the minutes, then seconded and passed.

Treasurer’s Report: Joe Jones reported on the Audit for 2006-2007. It is
almost complete. A motion to approve the Budget for 2007-2008 was made,
seconded and passed.

Membership: We have 684 total memberships to date. We have paid our local
and state dues, so we are in “good standing” for awards.

SGA Report: Kirby Turnage, SGA President, gave a wonderful report from SGA.
They have been very busy this semester. He also reported some long term
projects for next semester.

Grade Reps: No reports.

Teacher Representative: No report.

Reminder: Hospitality Committee will be responsible for FCAT snacks and
Teacher Appreciation Week, and not for Holiday Luncheon. Our next meeting will
be held, Monday, Dec. 3th, at 6:00 p.m. Meeting was adjourned at 6:28 p.m.

PTSA  Board Meeting
October 1, 2007


Call to order: Tina Sellers called the meeting to order at 6:09 p.m.   This was our first meeting for the 2007-2008 school year so everyone introduced themselves.
 
Secretary: Jennifer reminded everyone minutes were available on table.  Motion was made to accept the  minutes, then seconded and passed.
 
Treasurer’s Report: Joe Jones reported on the Audit for 2006-2007.  Due to his father passing away, Sept.  3rd, the audit will be done by the next meeting.  Joe presented a proposed budget for 2007-2008.  After discussion, a motion was made to present the proposed budget to the membership and vote at the next meeting to be held, Nov.  5th. 
The proposed budget will be available in the office, and on the website. 
 
Membership: Joyce Longmire gave the Membership report.  We have 645 memberships to date.  She has listed them on a print out with grades, teacher/staff, businesses, alumni, and grandparents.  Thank you, Joyce!  Motion was made to pay the State and National Dues by the October 15th deadline, so we can be in good standing.  Motion seconded and passed.  Please encourage all students and parents to join PTSA. 
 
SGA Report: No report.
 
Grade Reps: No reports.                         
 
Teacher Representative: Our Teacher Representative is April Hammond.  She had no report.
 
New Business: Our meeting times this year have changed, please let everyone know.
PTSA Board Meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m.,  PAC Meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.  We will meet in the cafeteria unless there is a conflict, and then we will meet in the Media Center. 
 
Meeting was adjourned at 6:38 p.m.

We love to support our teachers! PTSA sponsors Back to School Luncheons, Thanksgiving Coffees and a special Teacher Appreciation Week Luncheon in May.

CULTURAL ARTS:

WHS PTSA supports participation in the National PTA Reflections Program, a cultural arts program focusing on student efforts in music, photography, literature and visual arts.

STUDENT ACADEMIC ENHANCEMENT:

This year the PTSA will renew its commitment and support of student participation in the District-sponsored History Fair and Science Fair.

PARENT COMMUNICATION/SUPPORT:
This year's PTSA will work to communicate through the school Web Page, and will continue to facilitate parent/school communications by hosting monthly parent meetings with faculty/staff.FIRST MONDAY OF EACH MONTH 6:15 to 7:00 p.m. Parent Advisory Meeting follows beginning at 7:00. ALL ARE WELCOME!!

Our tradition of strong membership ranks us among the elite in the state of Florida. WE NEED YOU to reach that goal this year. Our members serve on the School Advisory Council, School Improvement team, numerous booster clubs, the Escambia County Council of PTAs/PTSAs, the Florida PTA Board, and many School District committes.
