Journalism II--1 Credit

This course provides practical experience in news gathering techniques journalistic writing and opportunities to explore careers in journalism. Writing practice includes news, sports, feature, and editorial writing. Finally, students will demonstrate basic use of technology for research, production, and dissemtination of journalistic media.

Special Note: Approval of Instructor and Completed Application Needed.

Journalism III--1 Credit

This course provide intermediate instruction in writing and production skill related to various jounalistic media and includes practice in applying all aspects of the writing process. Students explore jouranlistic standards and organization and management techniques through firshand experiences i producing a variety of journalistic products. Finally, students will demonstrate basic use of technology for frsearch, production, and dissemination of journalistic media.

Special Note: Student must have completed Journalism I or have publication advisor approval.

Journalism IV--1 Credit

This course provides advanced instruction in journalistic writing and production techniques. Through firshand experiences in managing a journalistic everprise, students explore creativity in writing, graphic design and/or photography, production techniques, and management. Finally, students will demonstrate basic use of technology for research, production, and disseminationof journalistic media.

Special Note: Student must have completed Journalism I or have publication adviser approval.

Journalism V--1 Credit

Building on Journalism IV, this course provides more advanced instruction in journalistic writing and production techniques, including computer technology incorporating the use of Internet and telecomunications for research and collaboration. However, the content of this course moves into managerial and leadership techniques and introduces collaborative and comprehensive planning and managerial skills, the course places students in an active leadership role, accepting all aspects of leadership in relation to a total publication. Finallyk the hazards of leadership are explored. Students are required to maintain a portfolio of journalistic work.
