Required English Courses
Basic Assumptions for Language Arts Education:
Reading; writing; listening; viewing, and speaking; language; and leterature are intgrated throughout a student=s learing experiences.
Benchmarks for the Sunshine Stat Standards are repeated as needed in courses sequences. As students progress from one application of skill and strategies.
Learning tasks and materials accommodate the individual needs of students.
Technology is available for students to develop competencies in the language arts.
Major Concepts/Content
The purpose of these required Language Arts courses is to provided integrated educational experiences n the Language Arts strands of reading; writing; listening, viewing, and speaking; language; and literature.

The content should include but not be limited to the following:
- Using the reading process to construc meaning through the use of technical, informative, and imaginative texts
- Using writing processses for various purposes with attention to style and format
- Using the research process and individual inquiry to locate, analyze, and evaluate information
- Understanding the power of language as it impacts readers, writers, listeners, viewers, and speakers
- Responding critically and aesthetically to literature

Language And Compostion
As determined by AP program guidelines, this alternative to English III Honors provide an understanding of the semantic, structural, and rhetorical resources of the English language, as students relate to the principles of effective writing. The course provides a variety of regorous writing opporunities calling for the use of different styles and tones. Special Note: This course is designed for the student wtth above-average interest and ability in English.
