Diversified Career Technology Principle

This course includes competencies designed to cover employability skills, communications and computational skills, leadership skills, interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, technical skills, and specific occupational information. Students must join the state club, Cooperative Education Clubs of Florida.

Special Note: The student must also be enrolled for at least one credit in DCT OJT.

Prerequisite: DCT teacher/coordinator verification of eligibility.

Diversified Career Technology Applications

Emphasis is centered on specific occupational area of each student. The student will study the theory and terminology used in the particular job on which he or she is training. This course also includes instruction on problem-solving and decision making, career-related information, entrepreneurship, and professional growth. This course is individualized, relating to the particular job the student has.

Special Note: The student must also be enrolled for at least one credit in DCT OJT.

Prerequisite: DCT teacher/coordinator verification of eligibility.

Academy of Diversified Occupation

This course enables students to emplement eompetency mastery in areas of professional, legal, and ethical workplace responsibilities; financial planning strategies; leadership and communication skills; labor and human resource issues related to the workplace; managerial/supervisory uses of technology; employability skills related to life and career goals; and the five functions of management.

Special Note: The student must also be enrolled for at least one credit in DCT OJT.

Prerequisite: DCT teacher/coordinatior verification of eligibility.

DCT OJT (On-the-job Training) Held off Campus

Students work in paid positions under the dirction of the employer and the DCT teacher/coordinator. The job helps students gain job performance skills, display and acceptable level of productivity, demonstrate ethical practices, follow directions, interact with employers and co-workers, interact with customers and clients, and display a positive attitude toward the job.

Special Note: The student must be 16 years of age with average grades, transportation, and good attendance.

Prerequisite: DCT Teacher/Coordinator verification of eligibility.
