Our Moderator,  Joe Jones, opened our meeting at 6:43 p.m.

Administrative Reports:

Dr.  Roberts: Dr.  Roberts introduced himself to everyone there.  As Principal, he reported that DECA’s Fall Blood Drive was the best ever!  Please check out our Website: www.btwash.org
Our Web Design Teacher, Mrs. Angela McFarland, and her students do a wonderful job to keep the website updated.  An Updated Activities Line will be coming soon.  The administration is concerned about our “D” grade.  We will hear more about that from Mrs. Colburn.  We will have more security at our football games for safety reasons.  Number of lock downs have been high, and the administration is very concerned about this and the safety of our students while at school.

Mrs. Colburn: Mrs. Colburn reported that our enrollment is 1964 as of today.  Open House on Sept.  11th, went very well, as did our Homecoming Dance, held Sept. 29th.  CIM (Continuous Improvement Model) time is done each day as part of 5th period.  Our next Late-Start Day is Wednesday, Oct. 10th.   PLAN test given to all 10th graders will be held in the gym tomorrow, Oct.  2nd.  The PSAT will be given on Wednesday, Oct.  17th, and students must pay the $13.00 registration fee in advance.  Please see Mrs. Gregory, our Guidance Secretary.  This year we will have FCAT Simulation because we are a “D” school.  Our target date is early December.

Mr. Lott: Mr. Lott reported that the cafeteria is complete.  Phone cables are installed.  The new softball field should be finished by early December.  Federal Cards are due NOW!  This is important for our school to receive necessary federal money.  Please check your students backpacks.  Students will not be allowed to paint the bathrooms, but six of them will be renovated.  Construction on our Auditorium should begin in February.  Security cameras are kicking!  Parking decals are available to 11th and 12th graders only, but they may consider allowing 10th graders to purchase a decal in the future.

Mrs. Hammond: No report from teachers this month.

Guidance Report: No report from Guidance tonight.

Joe Jones gave a brief recap of our PTSA meeting earlier.  He reminded everyone about the Proposed Budget available on the round table.  He also announced the time change for our meetings this year.  PTSA at 6:00 p.m., and PAC meetings at 6:30 p.m.

Our next meeting will be Monday, Nov.  5th.  Joe Jones adjourned the meeting at 7:40 p.m.
