Booker T. Washington High
School offers several Academies. Applications are available

Early Childhood Education The mission of the Early
Childhood Education Academies focus on broad, transferable
skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the
following elements of the Early Childhood industry:
planning, management, finance, technical and production
skills; underlying principles of technology; labor,
community, health, safety, and environmental issues; and
developmentally appropriate practices for children birth
though age eight. The program consists of 600 hours (120
hours of classroom instruction and 480 hours of direct work
with children) which results in the issuance of a Florida
Department of Education Early Childhood Professional
Certificate (ECPC). Additional information may be

E-Commerce Marketing The mission of the Ecommerce
Academy focuses on a combination of business, web design,
and computer scripting skills. Integration of these skills
allows students to create and maintain online business
capable of processing financial transactions in a web-based
global marketplace. Students have the opportunity t ear
Certified Internet Web (CIW) Associate Design Specialist
certification. Students who successfully complete the
program may be eligible for Gold Seal/Bright Futures

Health Services The mission of Health Science
Education is to prepare students with board, transferable
skills, knowledge and behaviors that lead to initial
employment or to post-secondary training in the health
occupations field. Core courses include Medical Skills and
Services, Health Science 1 (Anatomy & Physiology), Health
Science 2 (National Health Standards), and Allied Health
Assisting 3. Students participate in clinical training
opportunities at local hospitals and health care facilities
during their senior year of high school. HOSA, Health
Occupations Students of America, is the career and technical
student organization that provides leadership, training, and
skill training as an integral part of Health Science

Web Design Services
The mission of the Web Design Services Academy is to provide
students with a rigorous and relevant program of study that
provides a vital link between education and the business
community and promotes excellence for entering and competing
in a global workforce. Web Design is a subject that is
interesting and relatable to students because the Internet
and World Wide Web are ingrained in most high school
students' daily life.

Marine Science Academy
The Marine Science Academy at B. T. Washington High School
is an academy designed for academically talented students
who have a strong interest in pursuing careers in the marine
sciences or related fields. Students in the Marine Science
Academy will have an intensive curriculum which will include
immersion in scientific processes including laboratory
experimentation, research, and field study. Core academic
teachers will work together with the MSA students to include
scientific application in their lessons. The high school
experience for the MSA students will culminate with dual
enrollment in the marine sciences at the University of West
Florida.
